Summary

Greatbow is too slow for most characters, with Iron Eye also avoiding it.

Whips and flails lackluster, Eclipse Shotel and Chainlink Flail high risk low reward.

Full Moon Crossbow and Varre’s Bouquet are among the worst weapons to avoid.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a game where players have little to no control over what weapons are awarded to them, and they can only be so picky about the sort of weapons they bring into battle. Players still have the freedom of choice when it comes to selecting their weapons, with many options similar to those found in the original Elden Ring.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Hardest Class To Master, Ranked

Elden Ring Nightreign features eight unique Nightfarers for players to enjoy, but some are much harder to master than others.

As expected, although some of the melee and ranged options are incredibly powerful, there are still some terrible weapons that players should avoid if they hope to survive, only taking them if they have decent passive skill to back them up. Therefore, these next examples are the worst weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign that should be avoided at all costs.

Greatbow

Too Slow For Many Characters

Characters like Iron Eye have become some of the strongest and most vital members of an expedition group when playing Elden Ring Nightreign. Although he tends to lean towards ranged options such as his bow, the Greatbow and many like it are weapons that all characters should avoid, including Iron Eye. Although this ranged option can pack quite a punch against bosses and regular foes alike, the issue is how slow it is to pull back the drawstring of this huge bow. Even Iron Eye’s original starting bow is more useful than any Greatbow the player is likely to find, and is quicker to deal even more damage.

Whip

The Majority Of Whips Are Lackluster

Status Ailment

None

Attack Power

Attribute Scaling

At first glance, the Whips in Elden Ring Nightreign appear very cool. However, the cool factor of the Whip cannot support the weapon when playing with other players. With the basic Whip, the player is not likely to get any use out of it, similar to their experience with this weapon in the original Elden Ring. Since players are unable to customize their stats on their character, as each scales differently through the automatic leveling of Nightreign, there are only a few possible characters that could make a Whip work. It’s a better idea to choose a stronger option, such as Hoslow’s Petal Whip, because it also inflicts Blood Loss on its target along with doing more damage overall.

Full Moon Crossbow

A Ranged Option Destroyed By Slow Reload Times

Status Ailment

None

Physical 93

Magic 93

Critical 100

Although the Full Moon Crossbow is listed as one of the worst weapons that players should avoid using in Elden Ring Nightreign, it is one of many crossbows that players shouldn’t consider taking over a standard bow. When compared to a regular bow, the crossbow is another ranged option that falls short for many players.

Once again, Iron Eye will likely not get any benefit from a crossbow, as it doesn’t scale with attributes and usually has a delayed reload time. The Full Moon Crossbow is arguably one of the worst, since it does magic damage alongside physical damage. Both of these damage values are lower than that of even a regular crossbow, which makes the Full Moon Crossbow almost impressively lackluster in comparison.

Eclipse Shotel

Few Enemies Are Affected By Death Blight

Status Ailment

None

Physical 60

Holy 60

Critical 100

Attribute Scaling

Dexterity B

Faith D

While many of the Curved Swords in Elden Ring Nightreign can be incredibly powerful, this legendary armament is a disappointment when compared to the others. With low attack damage and similarly low holy damage to rely on, players are better off looking for something else. Above all else, the main reason for avoiding the Eclipse Shotel is its unique Ash of War. Only the Tarnished in PvP for the original Elden Ring can be affected by Death Blight, and therefore, using this Ash of War against any enemy in Nightreign is likely to accomplish very little. Even though this weapon has its own Unique Effect, where enemies that are on low health may randomly die, it still isn’t a good enough reason to use the Eclipse Shotel.
4

Chainlink Flail

Poor Range And Damage Makes For Higher Risk

Status Ailment

Blood Loss (34)

Attack Power

Attribute Scaling

Whips aren’t the only weak weapon type in Elden Ring Nightreign, with Flails being just as disappointing. Almost every Flail in Nightreign could be listed as one of the worst weapons in the game, but when singling one out as truly terrible, that weapon has to be the Chainlink Flail. Due to the sheer size of this Flail, players will need to play a character with decent Strength over Dexterity, though arguably these characters would be better off with any other weapon in the game. Even though this Flail causes Blood Loss, due to its low damage and how close to an enemy the player needs to be for the weapon to be effective, the Chainlink Flail is not worth the risk for such a meager reward.
3

Dragon Greatclaw

The Weakest Colossal Weapon Available

Status Ailment

None

Attack Power

Physical 98

Lightning 65

Critical 100

Attribute Scaling

Colossal Weapons are some of the most beloved weapon types in Elden Ring, and that has carried over to Nightreign. They are perfect for any character that is focused on Strength builds due to the power of every hit against a boss. While many of these weapons are brilliant, the Dragon Greatclaw does not earn the same love and appreciation as its Colossal Weapon siblings.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Best Daggers, Ranked

Elden Ring Nightreign features some great daggers for players to make use of, but these are arguably the best ones available.

The first thing players will notice about this Dragon Greatclaw is just how slow it is, making every swing against a foe incredibly risky. This risk isn’t even worth it, as the Dragon Greatclaw is also one of the weakest Colossal Weapons available in Nightreign, with lightning damage being its only saving grace.
2

Varre’s Bouquet

Bleed Doesn’t Solve Much When Dealing So Little Damage

Status Ailment

Blood Loss (51)

Attack Power

Attribute Scaling

Strength B

Dexterity D

Arcane C

Varre’s Bouquet may be one of the most interesting hammers in Nightreign from a visual perspective, but that doesn’t make it a great weapon for players to use. This low-damage Hammer, styled to resemble a bouquet of roses, will leave many players disappointed, as its physical damage output puts it in a tight spot. Even with its impressive status ailment, which allows players to quickly cause Blood Loss on enemies, many players will find that Nightreign provides many other, much better options for causing Blood Loss while also dealing a decent amount of damage on top of it. The short range of Varre’s Bouquet only hastens its downfall. This is another risky weapon that players won’t want to let their team down by using.
1

Torch

A Plain Torch Is No Help To Any Players

Status Ailment

None

Attack Power

Physical 19

Fire 36

Critical 100

Attribute Scaling

To some players’ surprise, utility weapons continue to make an appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign, even if there is no point in using them. The regular Torch is something many players aren’t picking up for its damage, even in the original Elden Ring, but instead as a way to light the path ahead of them when exploring. Even with so many slots available for the player to fill with weapons, the Torch is a weapon that all players, no matter their character, should avoid, unless it has impressive passives. With nothing to light and better fire damage options—which are actual weapons—the Torch is nothing but a joke for some players to use for laughs.
