An indie game called ROTA: Bend Gravity is free to claim on Steam right now. While Steam users don’t have a lot more time to take advantage of this opportunity, the game will remain free to play on several other platforms even after reverting to a paid model on Valve’s storefront. ROTA: Bend Gravity is a puzzle platformer made by indie developer Harmony Monroe. It was originally released on Steam in May 2022 with a $9.99 price tag. Since then, the game has seen multiple sales, as well as two permanent price drops. In April 2024, the Steam version of ROTA: Bend Gravity was made free to play, coinciding with its launch on itch.io.

Epic Games Store is Giving Away 2 Free Games Right Now

For a limited time, Epic Games Store users can claim two free games for their digital libraries.

A year later, the indie puzzle platformer is planned to revert to a paid model, this time retailing at $4.99, i.e., half its launch price. The new pricing will go into effect on Monday, June 23, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET. In the meantime, Steam users can still grab ROTA: Bend Gravity at no cost. Anyone who adds the 2022 title to their Steam library during the next 24 hours will get to keep it even after it reverts to being a paid game.
ROTA: Bend Gravity Offers Colorful Platforming With a Twist

The game itself tasks players with collecting 50 gems scattered across eight colorful worlds, all set to a relaxing ambient soundtrack. As its name suggests, ROTA: Bend Gravity features a twist on traditional platforming: players can shift the game’s perspective by walking off a ledge, which then becomes a platform as the world rotates around them. Jumping over a ledge avoids this shift, and mastering the combination of these two mechanics is key to overcoming the game’s challenges. Given its overall design, ROTA: Bend Gravity is likely to appeal to fans of games that play with perspective: FEZ, Echochrome, VVVVVV, Monument Valley, and the like.
ROTA: Bend Gravity Is Also Free to Play on Android and itch.io

PC gamers who miss the soon-to-close window to add ROTA: Bend Gravity to their Steam libraries can still play it in a browser via its developer’s itch.io page. An ad-supported version of the game is also available via the Google Play Store. A distinguishing feature of this Godot Engine-powered puzzle platformer is its open-source nature, with the game’s full source code being available on GitHub for anyone to inspect or repurpose. In related news, the Epic Games Store is currently giving away The Operator, a dystopian investigation game likely to appeal to fans of sci-fi settings and crime-solving challenges. Developed by French studio Bureau 81, The Operator is free to claim until June 26. It will then be replaced with Sable, an open-world indie adventure made by two-person London developer Shedworks, which will be given away to Epic Games Store users over a week-long period ending July 3.
