With every new Disney Dreamlight Valley update comes the promise of a new Star Path. The game’s upcoming Mysteries of Skull Rock update is no exception, as it ushers in the Adventures in Neverland Star Path. Based on the keywords in the update and Star Path’s title, and, of course, videos and a press release from Disney Dreamlight Valley, players were quick to realize that the upcoming update is Peter Pan-themed. This is not a surprise to Disney Dreamlight Valley players, as the update had been teased in the first 2025 base game roadmap released by developers last November. In contrast, one item in the Adventures in Neverland Star Path may leave players a bit confused.

Rather than leaning into the Darling children or the Lost Boys, who are both missing from the update, Adventures in Neverland leans into the mermaid and pirate aspects of Peter Pan.

With Peter Pan acting as the only character in the Mysteries of Skull Rock update, this was a smart decision by Disney Dreamlight Valley in order to make the update feel more substantial. While the mermaids don’t have much of a presence in Peter Pan, the film gives Disney Dreamlight Valley the opportunity to add more mermaid content, as the game has already added Ariel, Prince Eric, and Ursula from The Little Mermaid into its base game. With Captain Hook not being included in this update, using the Star Path as a gateway for pirate content makes his presence felt in Disney Dreamlight Valley despite his physical absence.

DDV Chose a Little Mermaid Character for its Peter Pan-Themed Star Path

But one item in the Adventures in Neverland Star Path feels out of place. Players can expect a few standard items every update both in the free and Premium tracks of the Star Path. Some clothing and furniture items have already been revealed and even its Clothing Dream Styles, belonging to Minnie Mouse and Goofy. Adventures in Neverland’s Premium Animal Companion has also been revealed, featuring Max from The Little Mermaid rather than an animal from Peter Pan. It’s not as though Peter Pan doesn’t feature any animal characters. If Disney Dreamlight Valley was that desperate to add another dog Companion to the game, it could have easily selected the Darling children’s dog, Nana. However, the Tick-Tock Croc responsible for Captain Hook’s missing hand would have been equally appropriate, as crocodiles have already been established as Companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Adding Max or Nana would require entirely new assets, but adding the Tick-Tock Croc would be easier for Disney Dreamlight Valley, especially considering developers are also hard at work on the upcoming second half of the Storybook Vale Expansion Pass.
Why Nana and the Tick-Tock Croc May Have Been Overlooked

Despite the odd decision to pick Prince Eric’s pet pooch for Adventures in Neverland’s Companion, there are a few reasons why Nana and the Tick-Tock Croc were passed over. The most obvious is that none of the Darling children nor Captain Hook are being added to Disney Dreamlight Valley’s character roster in this update. While there is hope for the Darling children being added to the base game further down the line, Disney Dreamlight Valley tends to split up heroes and villains between the base game and Expansion Passes. This could easily be the case with Peter Pan and Captain Hook, leaving the Tick-Tock Croc as an exclusive bonus Companion for a hypothetical Expansion Pass featuring the pirate villain. Adding Max not only fits with the mermaid references in the Adventures in Neverland Star Path, but it also reunites the dog with his human, Prince Eric. Whether or not this will lead to character interactions between the Companion and the Villager remains to be seen, but it’s at least a reason. Hopefully Nana and the Tick-Tock Croc will head to Disney Dreamlight Valley sometime in the future.
