WARNING: The following post contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers and Endwalker.Following the full launch of Final Fantasy 14 Mobile in China, some players pointed out how a tower that should not appear for another few expansions had already turned up in one of the game’s outdoor zones. Although Final Fantasy 14 Mobile currently contains content from A Realm Reborn, the tower in question is part of a major plot point from the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions. Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is a collaborative effort between Square Enix and Tencent subsidiary LightSpeed Studios, with the latter acting as the main developers behind the free-to-play project. Following months of closed beta testing, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile had its full release in China on June 19. Compared to the global version available on PC and consoles, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile only includes the main story from A Realm Reborn, along with five playable races and combat Jobs like the Dragoon, White Mage, and Warrior.

Final Fantasy 14 Shares First Patch 7.3 Details

Final Fantasy 14 pulls back the curtain on Patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow, which will also be the climax of Dawntrail’s main story arc.

Although the story is a retelling of A Realm Reborn, some keen-eyed players noticed a glaring inconsistency while exploring Final Fantasy 14 Mobile’s world map. On the FF14 subreddit, a Reddit user named Longjumping_Bee_7433 shared a screenshot that showed a tower in the middle of Upper La Noscea known as a Telophoroi Tower. The tower was located behind the ruins of the Floating City of Nym, with some crystals serving as a point of reference. While the Telophoroi and their dark towers do appear in various parts of the world, the plot revolving around them does not start until the latter half of the Shadowbringers expansion into Endwalker, as part of the Final Days story arc.
Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Erroneously Contains Shadowbringers Content

The Telophoroi, led by the rogue Ascian called Fandaniel, sought to bring about the world’s end by using the towers to summon Lunar variants of Primals like Ifrit and Bahamut to wreak havoc. Given that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is currently focused on A Realm Reborn, the towers should not appear in the game as of this writing. Two other locations that had Telophoroi towers during the main story of Shadowbringers and Endwalker thankfully did not have this glitch, making the Upper La Noscea sighting an isolated incident.

In response, players called LightSpeed Studios’ quality control with Final Fantasy 14 Mobile into question, while others found the discovery funny despite the story inconsistencies. Between the Telophoroi Tower’s appearance and the double-edged nature of Final Fantasy 14 Mobile’s monetization model, the game has become a contentious topic with players.
