The voice actors behind Genshin Impact’s male and female Travelers have announced they will reprise their roles in later updates. Several Genshin Impact characters have been silent in the English-dubbed version for quite some time, mainly because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Since Version 5.1 in October 2024, multiple Genshin Impact English voice actors joined the SAG-AFTRA strike demanding stronger protections against generative AI and other issues. It was also a SAG-AFTRA rule that union voice actors weren’t allowed to work on non-union projects, such as Genshin Impact. As a result, fans noticed how many of their favorite characters remained silent in-game during events and key story quests. However, SAG-AFTRA recently reached a tentative agreement with some major video game publishers. The announcement prompted multiple actors behind NPCs and recent characters to reveal their participation in the game, as they couldn’t comment during the strike. Now, two major VAs have also confirmed their return to Teyvat.

An interesting Genshin Impact chart reveals the revenue difference between the two currently featured five-star characters, Raiden Shogun and Kinich.
Zach Aguilar, the actor behind Genshin Impact’s Aether, otherwise known as the male Traveler, posted a statement on Twitter confirming they will voice the character again. In a response tweet, Sarah Miller-Crews, voice of female Traveler Lumine, also announced their reprisal of the role. Both actors expressed their love for their characters and shared excitement about working in the game again, with Aguilar adding gratitude to HoYoverse. However, Aguilar said he won’t be back in the upcoming Genshin Impact 5.7 patch yet “due to timing,” but players can expect his voice-overs in later patches.
Aether and Lumine’s Voice Actors Confirm Their Return After Version 5.7
Fans reacted positively to Aguilar and Miller-Crews’ announcement and welcomed them back. Players also found the statement reassuring, as some feared that both Traveler siblings could be recast during the strike, as happened with Kinich’s voice actor in March 2025. There are also rumors that Paimon’s VA has been recast for Version 5.7, along with Keqing, which caused mixed reactions from the community. Fortunately for Aether and Lumine fans, it seems the main characters will keep the same VAs in future updates.
While the update about Aether and Lumine’s VAs was exciting news for many players, some fans were disappointed that the Traveler wouldn’t be voiced in Version 5.7. The upcoming patch will include a new Archon Quest featuring both Travelers and Dainsleif, an almost yearly occurrence that Genshin Impact players look forward to in every patch cycle. However, it’s possible that Genshin Impact could add voicelines to past quests now that several actors are coming back, though fans will have to wait for an official announcement from the developers.
