One Piece is the biggest manga series in the world, and much of it could be attributed to its amazing story, which has had fans hooked since 1997. Over the 28 years of One Piece’s publication, Luffy has met many people who would eventually join him on his adventure. All of them are important, but one of them might end up being just as important as the main character himself, and this person is actually a former honorary Straw Hat, who Oda has great plans for.

Luffy is The Most Important Character in the Story

The Current Nika Of The World

Luffy is the main character of the best-selling manga in the world, One Piece. Fans have followed Luffy’s journey for almost three decades now, and will possibly do so for at least 10 more years. Luffy has had his ups and downs, and all his adventures with his crew have been captivating to watch, especially now that the series is in the final saga. Luffy was always very important to the story as the main character. However in Wano, Luffy’s Devil Fruit, the Gomu Gomu no Mi was revealed to be the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. In other words, Luffy was revealed to be a God of the One Piece world, known as Nika. As the new Nika, Luffy is even more important than previously thought. Luffy’s destiny is much more than just becoming the Pirate King. He also has to defeat an enemy Joy Boy didn’t manage to take down — Imu, the secret sovereign of the world.

Vivi Might Be As Important as Luffy In The Final Saga

Many fans of One Piece think Nefertari Vivi won’t be all that important after the conclusion of the Arabasta Saga, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Seven years ago, Oda set up a great arc for Vivi, showing the fans just how important she would be during the Reverie arc. Back then, Imu was shown having a weird infatuation with Vivi, carrying a picture of her. It wasn’t entirely clear why that was back then, but as the story progressed, more and more information came to light. After the Wano arc, fans learned about Nefertari Lily, the sister of Vivi’s ancestor. Vivi looks strikingly similar to her. Lily disappeared during the Void Century, and it’s very possible that this is due to Imu taking over her body. This is even more likely after current events in the manga, where Imu took over the body of Holy Knight Gunko.

Imu and Roger are both very powerful, and might have even come face to face in One Piece.

Vivi might face a similar fate in One Piece to Lily. The only thing holding Imu back right now might be Lily’s deteriorating body. In that case, Vivi, under Imu’s control, might end up being the final villain of the series. Vivi’s importance could definitely compare to Luffy’s in this regard.
