It’s no secret that the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games are sadly known largely for their egregious bugs and disappointing graphics, and one player has come across a glitch that causes their entire game to terastallize while playing on the new Nintendo Switch 2. While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have improved somewhat since launch thanks to several patches over the years, the games recently received a pretty significant overhaul with their Switch 2 editions, which feature improved performance, slightly better quality visuals, and the ability to render many more Pokemon simultaneously. There’s no question that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could have performed and looked vastly better on the original Switch hardware they were originally designed for, but the games’ free upgrade for Nintendo Switch 2 owners still offers some welcome enhancements regardless. Players accessing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on the Switch 2 get to enjoy a slightly crisper and more snappy overall experience on top of all the game’s existing content, including the ability to terastallize their favorite Pokemon to switch their type up in the heat of battle.

Even following Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s latest update, one player known as cakebomb321 recently shared a clip demonstrating another truly bizarre glitch in action while trying the game out on their Switch 2. Everything about the game seems normal enough while starting out, but immediately upon leaving the house, the player is met with a world that seems to have entirely terastallized. This wild visual bug is definitely hard on the eyes, with almost everything from the buildings to the human characters themselves becoming coated in a crystalline texture that becomes blindingly bright under the right lighting conditions.
This Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Bug Is Competing To Be Its Weirdest Yet
Playing the game with this glitch might be pretty fun for a while if it didn’t require players to put on sunglasses while they’re at it, but thankfully, it doesn’t seem to occur all too frequently. What triggers it in the first place isn’t exactly clear either, but many players agree that a driver issue on the Nintendo Switch 2 console is the likely culprit. Whatever the case, this bug is definitely a contender for one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s wildest glitches, bringing to mind oddities such as the nightmare fuel glitch that caused NPCs to metamorphize into giant skeletal monsters.
With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet previously being wrapped up by their own epilogue event, the Paldea game’s time in the sun is at an end. The next core-series title in the franchise, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, recently confirmed its official release date for October 16th later this year, and will launch on both the original Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
