Roblox is reportedly removing Star Codes entirely on or before October 24, as the platform will prioritize its new Creator Rewards program. The Creator Rewards program is expected to give Roblox creators more opportunities to earn on their creations, and it’s expected to replace the platform’s current engagement-based payouts and Creator Affiliate programs. Roblox is one of the world’s most popular games with millions of players and creators engaging in its content every month. Although the title first launched in 2006 for PC, Roblox’s popularity grew steadily over the years and later experienced a major surge after the Xbox One release in 2015. The highly successful launch introduced a new generation of gamers to many of the title’s user-created games. Roblox also made its way to PlayStation platforms in October 2023, giving players around the world access on PlayStation’s massive install base between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This past May, Roblox accumulated more active players than Steam’s top 100 games combined, making it a lucrative platform for top creators.

July 2025 Will Kick Off a New Era for Blox Fruits
Blox Fruits, the popular Roblox RPG, enters a new era in July as the developer Gamer Robot makes big changes to aspects of the game.
As reported by Bloxy News on X, Roblox is doing away with the use of Star Codes by October 24, 2025, since the Creator Rewards program will allow creators to directly earn from their published experiences. The Roblox Reddit community chimed in with its thoughts on Star Codes going away, with many Roblox players stating that they forgot that Star Codes were still around as a method of generating earnings from user-created content. Some fans recall seeing Roblox-oriented YouTube creators promote Star Codes years ago, before the practice fell into obscurity. While a lot of players in the Reddit community don’t mind or care about Star Codes, some are skeptical about the Creator Rewards program, as it’s still an unproven feature that is not active until July 24.
Roblox is Ending the Star Codes Program
Similarly to Fortnite’s Creator Codes system, Roblox’s Star Codes enable players to support their favorite creators whenever they purchase Robux or Premium. When a player uses a Star Code in Roblox, the creator earns a 5% commission on that purchase without extra costs incurred to the player. Creator Rewards will replace Star Codes and offer a larger percentage increase in earnings, and the pool of users that can earn from Creator Rewards will be greater than those in the Star Codes program, according to the Roblox team. There is no fixed or maximum pool of earnings that creators may earn from Creator Rewards, but much of the community is concerned over the program being a direct replacement of engagement-based payouts and Creator Affiliate programs, which may have a negative impact on certain creators.
Only time will tell if Creator Rewards will be successful as a valuable support system for creators. At the very least, Roblox continues to offer many compelling games, and some games even manage to exceed the player count of fully-fledged titles by third-party developers. One recent example is the Roblox farming simulator Grow a Garden, which accrued 16,000,000 concurrent players on the platform.
